Arrival, Check-in & Check-out

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Your booked room is guaranteed to be available for check-in from 3 pm on the day of arrival. On the day of departure, please vacate the room by 11 am.

Early check-in or late check-out is available subject to availability and for an additional charge.

You are welcome to leave your luggage at reception and make use of our hotel facilities on the day of arrival or departure. Please enquire about availability directly with our reception team, as this may vary depending on occupancy.

What is the latest arrival time?

The reception is staffed daily until 10 pm. Please let us know if you plan to arrive after 10 pm or if your arrival is delayed.

For late arrivals, we will leave all the necessary information in our night safe so that you can check in even outside reception hours. The following day, please pop into reception to fill in the registration form.

What payment methods are accepted?

Cash, card payments (Maestro, Visa, MasterCard, American Express), vouchers

What are the cancellation terms?

At the Gersberg Alm, free cancellation is possible until 6 pm on the evening before. 

Excluding the following periods: the Salzburg Festival, ELF – Electric Love Festival, Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Does the hotel have car parks and electric vehicle charging points?

Yes, there are plenty of free parking spaces available.

There are also eight electric vehicle charging points, operated by Salzburg AG. Charging costs are billed directly by Salzburg AG, which is also responsible for setting the tariffs.

Is it possible to access the site easily in winter when there is snow?

As we are situated on a hillside, access can be more challenging during heavy snowfall. However, access to the hotel is always possible, as the road is cleared regularly. 

Should you nevertheless have any concerns due to the weather, we recommend contacting our reception at any time.

Please note the Austrian law on winter tyres: this applies from 1 November to 15 April, with the specific proviso ‘in wintry conditions’, which applies in the event of snow, slush or ice.

Which airport is closest to the hotel?

Salzburg “W. A. Mozart” Airport is about 20 minutes’ drive from the Gersberg Alm.

Other airports: Munich Airport (approx. 2 hours), Linz Airport (approx. 1.5 hours) and Vienna Airport (approx. 3 hours)

We’d be happy to help you organise an airport transfer on request. Costs from Salzburg Airport: €75 by taxi, €85 by Mercedes, €95 by minivan.

Which station is closest to the hotel?

The nearest railway station is Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, about 15 minutes’ drive from the Gersberg Alm. You can also reach us by public transport from Salzburg Central Station: take bus routes 130, 155 or 175 to Mirabellplatz, then change there to bus 151 to reach us.

If you’d prefer a more comfortable journey, book a transfer with us – from €65 in a standard car, from €75 in a minivan.

Is the minibar included in the room rate?

The first restocking of your minibar is free of charge. Thereafter, you will be charged according to your usage.

Is there Wi-Fi in the rooms and in the hotel’s public areas?

We offer our guests free Wi-Fi in their rooms and throughout the hotel.

Can I book a specific room on a firm basis?

We are happy to accommodate room requests, but please bear in mind that we cannot guarantee that you will be allocated a specific room.

Are there accessible rooms at the Gersberg Alm?

The Gersberg Alm has developed over time and does not have a lift or accessible rooms. Our restaurant is accessible. If you have any questions regarding your specific circumstances, please do not hesitate to contact us in advance.

What are the terms and conditions for children staying overnight at the Gersberg Alm?

At the Gersberg Alm, children up to the age of 6 stay free of charge. After that, we charge €45 per night. We’d be happy to provide a cot in your room on request.

Are dogs welcome at the Gersberg Alm?

Yes, your four-legged friends are very welcome here at the Gersberg Alm. Please do let us know when you make your booking, as dogs are only permitted in rooms with wooden floors.

  • We charge €20 per dog per day.
  • Please note that dogs are not permitted in the restaurant at breakfast. At lunchtime, you are welcome to bring your dog to the Fichtenstube.
  • Dogs are also not permitted in the sauna area or by the pool.
Is there a daily room cleaning service?

Rooms are cleaned every two days. If you would like your room cleaned daily, please let us know – our housekeeping team will be happy to arrange this for you.

Are there rooms for smokers at the Gersberg Alm?

All our rooms and suites are non-smoking. Most of the rooms have a balcony or terrace where smoking is permitted.

Is hypoallergenic bed linen available?

Yes, we are happy to provide allergy-friendly bed linen on request. Please let us know when you make your booking so that we can have everything ready for your arrival.

Is there a bathrobe in the room?

From the Deluxe category upwards, a bathrobe is provided in the room. Guests staying in the Standard and Comfort categories are welcome to request one from reception at any time (free of charge).

Gersberg Alm Breakfast

Is breakfast included in the room rate?

Yes. For guests staying at the Gersberg Alm, breakfast is included in the room rate.

Can external guests also come for breakfast?

Yes, external guests are very welcome here. The price for the breakfast buffet is €30 per person. Please book a table in advance.

What are the breakfast times at the Gersberg Alm?

Daily from 7 am to 10 am.

What exactly is included in the breakfast?

A breakfast buffet (continental breakfast) featuring fresh bread and pastries, spreads, coffee, tea and homemade fruit and vegetable juices, complemented by hot dishes, our own honey and – depending on the season – fruit from our own orchards. We’d be happy to prepare fresh egg dishes for you.

Panoramic Pool & Sauna

How many saunas are there at the Gersberg Alm?

The small but lovely sauna area comprises three different saunas: a Finnish sauna, a steam room and an infrared cabin.

Is there a bathrobe in the room?

From the Deluxe category upwards, a bathrobe is provided in the room. Guests staying in the Standard and Comfort categories are welcome to collect one from reception at any time.

Are towels provided in the sauna and pool area?

Yes, towels are available both in the sauna area and by the pool.

When is the Panorama Pool open?

May to October, daily from 7:30 am to 8 pm

Is the panoramic pool heated?

Our pool is naturally heated – which means its temperature varies entirely with the seasons and the sun, without the need for any artificial heating. This makes for a pleasantly mild experience, especially on warm summer’s days.
