Not every kitchen needs to be noisy to make an impression. Whether for lunch or a leisurely dinner, at the Gersberg Alm à la carte restaurant, Austrian classics hold their own alongside the modern touch of head chef Florian Dornstauder.
Where you choose to sit is almost as important as what’s on your plate: on the hotel’s sun terrace high up on the mountainside, Salzburg lies at your feet, whilst the dining rooms inside retain their very own character with an atmosphere steeped in history.

As soon as the weather permits, we open our outdoor dining area – with panoramic views over Salzburg. Whether for breakfast, lunch or as the evening draws to a close, you can sit back, let your gaze wander over the green countryside, and feel time slow down for a while.
Two signposted walking routes pass right by the Gersberg Alm, as does the popular climb up the Gaisberg Road for cyclists and e-bike riders. For anyone on the go who just wants to stop for a quick bite, we have a special snack menu – so no need for a detour, just half the route.
At the foot of the Gaisberg, at an altitude of 800 metres, lie the extensive gardens of the Gersberg Alm – largely left in their natural state, with picturesque little farm gardens and two raised beds where herbs are grown in spring for the farm’s own use. Head chef Florian Dornstauder prefers to prepare them right where they were harvested: just next door, in his own kitchen.
In summer, our sheep tend the meadows; in winter, our woodland provides the fir trees for the festive decorations inside the building. What grows here rarely strays far from where it is needed.
