Your mountain hotel, high above Salzburg
Peace and quiet. Woodland. Panoramic views.
There are places where everything falls silent and you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a moment. The Gersberg Alm is one such place: a family-run Romantik Hotel in the mountains, nestled peacefully amongst the greenery.
Close to the city of Salzburg, yet high up on the city’s most famous hill, where the road climbs towards the Gaisberg. Surrounded by green forests and meadows, with a vast sky above and the city below.

Sometimes you don’t have to travel far to feel far away. A few days up here are enough to find peace – nestled between the edge of the forest and sweeping views, with time that no one but you controls.
Whether it’s a break for two, a quiet weekend in the mountains or simply the need for a little distance: the Gersberg Alm takes the urgency out of things. Individually furnished rooms and a kitchen that stays true to its roots whilst still offering sophisticated cuisine ensure that tranquillity doesn’t mean having to make sacrifices. Those seeking peace and quiet will find more of it here than everyday life usually allows.

Forty rooms and suites, each one unique. Some open out onto the forest, others offer views across the city of Salzburg – and each one invites you to leave the day behind as you step through the door.
The Gaisberg Suite has the mountain’s name right there in its title: fifty square metres spread over two levels, a round bed beneath its very own starry sky, with the city lying far below. Somewhat quieter, yet no less spacious, the Untersberg Suite welcomes you.
You can also enhance your stay as you wish: a three-course dinner (at an additional cost) or a wine tasting at the renowned Die Gersberg Alm restaurant. And your breakfast – whether in the dining rooms or outside in the shaded garden – is, of course, included.
Room overviewAnyone who spends the day in the mountains returns with a different appetite. In the restaurant, the cuisine focuses on regional specialities and Austrian classics, freshly prepared by head chef Florian Dornstauder and his team – a signature style that has long since attracted attention even beyond Salzburg.
In summer, you can sit in the outdoor dining area, with the city far below you. In winter, you can dine in the historic dining rooms. Accompanied by a wine from a list featuring around 120 wines – and the evening can certainly go on for a long time.

Walking and cycling trails start right on the doorstep and lead up towards Gaisberg – on foot along marked routes, or by road bike or e-bike along the well-known Gaisbergstraße, whose gentle gradient and sweeping views have long since ceased to be an insider’s tip. On your own, with your dog or with the family.
And if you’ve got no plans at all, that’s an activity in itself. The peace and quiet up here demands nothing – it simply gives. Our hotel, with its outdoor pool and sun terrace, invites you to linger. The sauna area warms you up on cooler days, whilst the on-site tennis court and the all-year-round skittle alley provide plenty of activity. And if you’ve got no plans at all, that’s an activity in itself. The peace and quiet up here demands nothing – it simply gives.

Our mountain setting offers you peace and tranquillity whenever you’re in the mood for it. And if you do fancy a bit more action, Salzburg’s Old Town is not far from our boutique hotel. With the Guest Mobility Ticket included in your room rate, you can easily reach the heart of the action by public transport – and just as easily return to the Gaisberg once you’ve seen and strolled to your heart’s content.
